FAKE PHONY SONGS FOR 2024Based on the lyrical content of this year’s (2024) soca and calypso songs, there is an emergent need for editing and correcting the statements uttered by singers on their records and during their live performances. Many singers use words and phrases that are common, simple and popular with the population but are false, inaccurate, misleading and incorrect. Overall, this is common practice in Trinidad as incorrect statements are heard over and over (often) and treated as truth, accurate and significant to the discussion or the musical expression. Many of this year’s soca and calypso songs are loaded with false, inaccurate statements (sayings) and the young Google dependent writers of songs are guilty of not knowing the truth and fact from fiction. The inventors of soca parties and fetes and bacchanal are phony and false and rely on inaccurate data and words to support their otherwise simple, phony, false lyrical compositions. To put emphasis on sayings like birth place, Trinbago, twin island, mecca, greatest show on earth, greatest Carnival… are all inaccurate and false and shows the poor education of these women and men masquerading as writers and singers of soca and calypso songs who prey on the vulnerable in society with their false information.

In a train station in Paris, 2015:Gerard Pla sits down at a public piano, and starts a moving rendition of Ludovico Einaudi’s “Una Mattina.”Then, 40 seconds in…A stranger steps out from the crowd, and wanders over.He stands next to the piano, (a little too close for comfort, perhaps), and watches. What Gerard is thinking at this point, who knows. Then, the stranger does something weird. He reaches out, and plays a note. And another. And another. And although a bit awkward at first, the two soon get dialled in, and play the most epic improvised cover of Einaudi’s music (with a bit of Braveheart mixed in for good measure) Paris has ever heard. They finish to a huge round of applause, and a recording soon goes viral online. Not only is the clip the most epic random duo in piano-dom…(and one of my favourite Youtube vids)…But it’s probably the best (if unintentional) advert ever “created” for taking piano lessons. (I mean, it sure as hell sold me.)Think about it:Yes, there’s some deep musical souls who’s only desire is to express themselves via 88 ebony keys. But the rest of us?Want to play just well enough to “wow” a room.(Or in this case, a train station). And those deep musical souls?Although they might not WANT to wow a room…They probably like the thought of being ABLE to.TL;DR?Sending a dumb email with 20% off in the subject line doesn’t sell piano lessons.Sharing stories that matter to aspiring pianists does.(The vid, for all you procrastinators: https://lnkd.in/eg4xXxHg)#emailmarketing #emailmarketingtips #marketing #piano

As promised, this is the full title of the album shown in the video."The Boy Bands Have Won, and All the Copyists and the Tribute Bands and the TV Talent Show Producers Have Won, If We Allow Our Culture to Be Shaped by Mimicry, Whether from Lack of Ideas or from Exaggerated Respect. You Should Never Try to Freeze Culture. What You Can Do Is Recycle That Culture. Take Your Older Brother's Hand-Me-Down Jacket and Re-Style It, Re-Fashion It to the Point Where It Becomes Your Own. But Don't Just Regurgitate Creative History, or Hold Art and Music and Literature as Fixed, Untouchable and Kept Under Glass. The People Who Try to 'Guard* Any Particular Form of Music Are, Like the Copyists and Manufactured Bands, Doing It the Worst Disservice, Because the Only Thing That You Can Do to Music That Will Damage It Is Not Change It, Not Make It Your Own. Because Then It Dies, Then It's Over, Then It's Done, and the Boy Bands Have Won."Safe to say, Silviu was 100% correct when he said it'd take him more than a minute to read it for you. What other interesting facts about the music industry do you know? #creativity #education #personalbranding

Expression in service of…My daughter recently recorded a few songs with Colin Killalea of Chris Keup’s White Star Sound. After hearing a rough cut of the first song, “Anastasia,” I was moved to tell Colin that I saw, I knew, I could tell, that his work was in service of the music. Colin, a remarkable musician and producer, knew exactly what I meant. When I listen, there is no ego, no showing off, no marking territory, no wink to the listener saying, “aren’t I clever?” Our attention remains on the story, the feelings, the beauty and meaning of the song as told through the melody, lyrics, musical performances, and production. The work is to reveal that song, not obscure it. Colin’s work treats the song itself as a precious thing. As you listen, notice the delicate, almost etherial piano, the emotional swell that takes us with the storyteller into her dream, the hush of recognition as the song ends. This quality of “expression in service of,” threads itself throughout my work and in this blog. Generally, it is connected to…Read on: https://lnkd.in/gMse5GFv#publicspeaking #presentation #intention #attention #audience #communication #inserviceof #presence #performance #collaboration

"They got so much things to say right now"Bob Marley was one of the few figures in popular music worthy of the label of "artist". He was, of course, more than just a musician. He was a totemic, and inspirational, figure for oppressed people across the world. The biggest selling reggae album of all time is Marley's “Legend” - a greatest hits compilation released in 1984.The album features fourteen tracks and five of those are from his 1977 studio album “Exodus”, more than any other of his album. That should give you some idea of how important “Exodus” is in the story of reggae, and in his career. Recorded in London, following a failed assassination attempt on Marley in Jamaica in 1976, the album went on to be certified Platinum in the UK and Gold in several other territories around the world. What makes Marley an artist is his ability to write about important issues, but to deliver that content in a way that is uplifting, inspiring, memorable, and entertaining."So Much Things to Say" is a wonderful example of this gift. Invoking the stories of Jesus, Marcus Garvey and Paul Bogle as heroes of the oppressed, people with important messages, and using this names to call others to action. What we can learn from Marley, outside of his desire to uplift others in difficult circ*mstances and to fight oppression, is that we should not shy away from sharing our thoughts and opinions when we feel they should be heard. It can seem challenging when presenting in a business setting to share opinions, the temptation can be to stick to the facts. But being able to find a way to speak honestly, and authentically, when presenting can give you authority and legitimacy. If you have things to say, say them. You will:- Feel empowered- Gain respect- Develop a reputation for honesty- Build your standing as a thought leaderHave you ever had to say something you didn't want to say? How did you approach that challenge? What were the positive outcomes?Tell me in the replies.# #people #music #leader #artist #respect #publicspeaking #honesty #authenticity #presentationskills #publicspeakingtips #publicspeakingcoach
