The 23 best pubs in Corpus Christi (2024)

Doc's Seafood and Steaks on Padre Island offers an open-air setting with waterfront views, live music, and great food. The seafood here is some of the best in Corpus Christi, and the steaks are quality beef.

Dropped in for Dinner on a Holiday and we were lucky enough to find them ope. Enjoyed a scrumptious “catch of the day” dinner and some refreshing beverages. The wait staff was friendly, attentive and helpful when it came to dish selections. Snagged a table near the water and enjoyed a beautiful sunset. Great place for seafood that may be enjoyed in a variety of prep methods. Casual eatery that had a live musician to set the tone for a relaxing evening. Went during off season and so the seating and service was good. Show up earlier or be prepared to wait during busier seasons, the view and the food is worth the wait!

Waitress was super nice very speedy! She seemed to read our minds when we needed something. Food was great I had the new york strip with potatoes must request "docs style" they put sauce and shrimp on top. Cooked perfect and the sauce was so good. Husband had tuna tacos which were very good. Also had live music and he sang very well. Overall great for a nice night out.

I will start with the positive. The food was great! The music was really good as well. Local plays every Wednesday! Be prepared to wait. It took us about 3 hours to eat. The service was very slow and when the sun shades were pulled down the inside was really hot as it's all open air. Did enjoy the food but a lot left to be desired with the service and how long it took for food and drinks. Not sure I would go back.

The food was amazing! First time here and I’ll definitely recommend it to anyone. Got to see a beautiful sunset too!! Service was great. It does get really busy so be expected to wait before you’re seated.

First time going to Docs and it was Amazing! The food and the atmosphere were very nice. Our server, Lauren P, was incredible! Lauren was very kind and we kept her on her toes. We had a couple of late arrivals to our group and she was very accommodating. By far, the best server I have had in a very long time.

Crab Stuffed Flounder and fried shrimp are absolutely amazing! My family thinks everything on the menu is amazing. The deck looks over the bay as the JFK bridge disappears along the horizon. The deck faces to the east so always out of the way of the evening sun and shining a gorgeous sunset light on JFK bridge. You should definitely visit you will not be disappointed!

My wife and I celebrated 31 years at Doc’s. We read the reviews about the wait time and were prepared. The wait was not too bad. My wife got drinks at the bar and we enjoyed the waterfront view.We had the queso special with the crab guacamole as appetizers. They were really good.I had the rib eye which was cooked wonderfully and tasted great. My wife had the crab stuffed flounder which she really liked. We were given a complimentary piece of key lime pie for our special anniversary. It was wonderful.Bryan was our server and took great care of us. He gave us a good rundown of the menu and his suggestions were on point. He really made the occasion better with his positive attitude. Thanks Bryan and we wish you a long and happy marriage.

My wife and I stopped here during our honeymoon. This was absolutely the best seafood either of us have ever had. The service was amazing, very fast and friendly. Our cups were never empty and the server wasn't pushy. He was very patient and knowledgeable when explaining the specials. My wife had the fried shrimp platter and I had the mahi special. We split the fried cheesecake for dessert and we sat right next to the dock.

Doc's never disappoints! Fantastic service, food, and atmosphere. This is definitely a must stop restaurant if you are visiting Corpus Christi / North Padre Island. Our favorite is the stuffed flounder. The blackened chicken salad was pretty good as well!

Met a couple of friends for dinner. The food was good and there was live music. The sunset views were amazing! The only issue we had was that the music was so loud we had trouble conversing. Otherwise a great evening. Would definitely recommend this place, just sit back from the stage if you wish to converse versus listen to music.

What a mixed visit this has been. The food was incredible. The service, not so much. Why is it that no where I've been in Texas offers top-notch service with their top-notch food.We ordered the crab stuffed flounder, grilled coconut shrimp, Bacon wrapped shrimp, shrimp queso, Cajun fries, and peel and eat shrimp. All of the food was incredible. The flounder had the blood line still in it, so that made the meal very fishy, but everything else about it was delicious. The service is where this review suffers. We were sat, and immediately asked for a drink order before any of us knew where the beverage menu was. The server then came back shortly and took our drink order. About 15 minutes later, he came back for the food order, which we placed appetizer orders and then lunch orders. The food came out quick but all at the same time. The server should have held the lunch portion so we could enjoy the apps. The food also came out not piping hot,As I'm writing this, the server also told us that the apps were free cause of the timing issues. So, the service improved by his acknowledgment without any mention other than our disappointment that they all came out at the same time. So, nice recovery. I will leave my review the way I was writing it for reference, but I definitely raised the stars. Also, the free photo was a welcomed addition, not to mention the smell of the ocean and the open air concept really snagged some extra praise. Please try them out. It's worth the visit.

I really enjoyed this place! The wait is always long on a weekend evening but grab a couple of drinks and enjoy the view while you wait. We waited about 40 minutes, and were seated with a beautiful view. The ambiance is great! The waiter was friendly and courteous & food came out quickly and was delicious. We had a great experience and would definitely come back.

⛴⚓️🚁❤️🇺🇸🇨🇦❤️ Delicious! The seafood and vegetables were so fresh and cooked just right. The shrimp were huge, so there was plenty of food. Calamari was also really fresh. The staff is very attentive. Great place for any meal but lunchtime and dinner are perfect. Very friendly staff with great service The patio is a nice space to relax and enjoy the sunshine. But really not happy we don't need discount for Military but need to ask better because for respect. My hubby had US Marine Corps service for over 27 years, but my hubby is from America - Asian maybe the staff thinks Asians never served for freedom or join US Military we come to the restaurant many times but never ask about that. Make a little sad. My hubby never asked for a discount. I think need to respect all US Military the same this is my opinion. We also got a Military discount which was nice but we never ask because I love and Respect the DOC Navy, Bill Blankenship. Thank Dr for your service Respect and Thank you, Sir. I am a Doctor my Dad is a Doctor Republic of Vietnam Airborne Division now my Dad is MD Doctor in Montreal Canada.! ⛴⚓️🚁❤️🇺🇸🇨🇦❤️

A nice fishy experience! With some beautiful views! This place has a great atmosphere with lots of room. With indoor and outdoor seating. The main entrance and the ToGo window are on the second level. So be ready to climb a few steps or use the Handicap accessible ramp! Great deck space with benches to wait when the place is a little busy. All in all worth a visit especially if you love some good sea food!!

We loved it so much we came twice!!The first time we came near opening, we got a table immediately, although the place seemed to fill up fast. Despite that our food came out promptly, and both food and service was AMAZING!!.Upon Jasmines recommendations, we got the crabstuffed flounder, along with adding some fried shrimp, was perfect for my hubby and I,,The sauce was a recipe I’d like for myself! She suggested come back for the sunset- and we did. Very sweet-and funny girl. Long wait at night, but the food & service we got the first time, and second time, along with the VIEW!! was so worth it. Will be back 👍

First time here and it was great! The tuna sandwich was probably the best thing we ordered but the po boy was also absolutely delicious- the pickles were super zesty and crisp and the remoulade had a great tang! Our server was really great and did a great job handling multiple tables at once.

Rachael B — Google review

We loved everything about our experience here, I got the crab stuffed flounder and my husband got the yellow fin tuna tacos. We highly recommend both you will not regret getting these meals. As for the service that was great as well we ordered 1/2 dozen of oysters which was brought out to us pretty fast, and they were delicious! We also had no wait and our server attended us quickly as well (went around 5pm on Sunday). Don’t let the negative reviews deter you from checking this place out, we will 100% be going back!

Delicious! Loved the open breezy atmosphere on the water. Loved the live music. Great service. Did have to wait to be seated, group of 8, I think we got there when there had been a fishing tournament or something, on a saturday at dinner time, it was very busy?

Shannon J — Google review

This is the second time we've gone and both times were great! I love the relaxing atmosphere. The live music was a great addition. The food was wonderful! We tried the clam strips for an appetizer. I got the grilled coconut shrimp and my husband got the rajin Cajun burger. Everything was very good! Our waitress was wonderful

Deirdre K — Google review

Our server was so sweet and helpful. The food was okay. For this place, expect to pay more for the views of the water then anything else. The hush puppies were good. The tuna tacos were okay, though the tortillas were hard. Don’t expect the food to stand out but the service atmosphere was nice. No A/C anywhere and only small fans so expect to be hot during the summer.

Jasmin P — Google review

Lots of surf and turf options and the staff is very attentive and friendly. They had live music and the views are great. The remoulade sauce was delicious with the hush puppies. The bacon wrapped shrimp are very good and the bacon burger with cheese curds and jalapeños was interesting. We'd go back.

Dined in for dinner while visiting and this place didn’t disappoint. Loved the atmosphere and of course sitting by water. I ordered the coconut shrimp and it was very creamy and delicious. Green beans were very simple nothing extra. The highlight of the whole meal was the shrimp queso 🤌🏼 10/10 highly recommend it!

Andrea — Google review

Had the grilled coconut shrimp and it was amazing!!! My husband had the grilled tuna tacos and loved them as well. No ac but they had fans to try and help with the heat. I would suggest more fans. Even out on the balcony it was incredible hot and if you didn’t have one of the fans on you it was just way too hot. It’s all open space. Live music was playing and the restaurant was full but we got in without a wait. You can also order food to go and eat downstairs at their bar. Will go back again but maybe after the sun sets or on a cooler day.

Tawni B — Google review

The food is delicious, the service was excellent and as with any eating establishment, there was a wait. Please keep in mind that it's an open bar; however, they may have air conditioning but dress appropriately for its heat.

We visit the coast 3-4 times a year and Doc’s is always one of our stops. The margaritas on the waterline are beyond delicious. We’ve tried the seafood queso, tuna steak sandwich (our fav), seafood flounder, and so much more. The wait staff, the atmosphere, we are never disappointed when we stop in. All this and I haven’t even mentioned the view! The sunsets are amazing. Don’t let the parking lot and wait intimidate you. Have a drink downstairs while you wait or just enjoy the peaceful view.

Sophia H — Google review

Margaritas good. Fried clams appetizer, mostly breading and I’m not kidding, barely any clam strips at all. Peel and eat shrimp had a fishy taste and not chilled very well. Burger was overcooked and very dry. The service was amazing. The view and atmosphere were great.

Arlene G — Google review

Great location, very good food, awesome service! Cathy took very good care of us and made sure we had everything we needed. Very loud. Felt more like a bar atmosphere than a restaurant. Open air seating with nice views. Overall, it was a good experience.

This place absolutely rocks! We were a walk-in party of 13 that came in at 8:45 pm (they close @9:30) Not ideal and we felt bad because there was already a wait and we were fully prepared to get turned away and go into corpus to find a place open. The hostess asked us if we were with a party and we told her No, we were walk-ins and she replied, Even Better and that we would be sat asap! I wish I could remember her name because she was so accommodating to us!As we get sat, around 9:15 or so we are greeted by Bethany with nothing but smiles. I gotta tell you, the service the young lady gave us was absolutely phenomenal! We weren’t waiting for drinks or anything really from the get go. When I say she was on top of it, I truly mean that! She gave great suggestions from the menu which I’ll get too but I really needed to just brag on her for a moment. Big party after a long shift at the end of the night. You wouldn’t have known it, but everyone and I mean everyone in my family were just in awe of the service. Keep it up!Food: the portions were generous for the price which was an initial concern but after seeing the plates I wasn’t mad at all. I had the mahi mahi tacos which weren’t on the menu but when I asked how the yellow fin tuna tacos were she suggested those and it was an immediate yes! I received 3 nice sized tacos Had a little kick to them but not over powering and the rice that came on the side helped my pallet enjoy each scrumptious bite. My wife split the Coastal Bacon Wrapped shrimp and the crab cake. They enjoyed their meal and the only thing about shrimp is that they would want a creamy sauce to dip. The crab cake seemed a little small compared to everything else we received so nothing special to write about there. Momma got the chicken fried steak, I know I know-but she isn’t a seafood lover and said the batter was nice and light and also had a great flavor to it. Kids ate burgers and I’m assuming they loved them cause there wasn’t anything to take home!It was around 10:15 pm and we were the last customers there and Bethany and the crew told us to enjoy our meals and take our time. They started closing up the inside of the restaurant which we had absolutely zero problems with. When we received our checks. Everything was in order and we noticed that there was No Gratuity added which was a little surprising considering how big our party was. So yes my Momma was walking out she thanked Bethany and said don’t worry, my children will take great care of you. Which I think we did, think all of us gave her well over 30% because the service, ambiance and food was just that good!Lastly: Thanks Bethany and Crew! We will see y’all again next year when we go back!

Wow, this was an outstanding choice for lunch on the bay. Had the yellow fin tacos that were hot, nicely seasoned, and with large chunks of tender tuna! Supplemented with tender beans and flavorful rice. Great service and at good pricing with a pleasant atmosphere in the afternoon. Great job, Doc's.

Visited Doc’s for the first time and we enjoyed it. We saw that they had clam chowder - being that we are from New England, home of the white chowda, we just had to give it a try. It was pretty good for non New England chowder. We also had the Cajun fries and peel and eat shrimp. Both were very good. They were some of the best shrimp that I’ve ever had. I would highly recommend all 3 of those apps. Service was wonderful. Shay was very pleasant and answered all of our questions. We had a great view as well. Would recommend to anyone!

Noel was our waiter. Absolutely amazing such good service. I could only hope for.And the food was awesome. Well priced drinks really good stuffed crab stuffed flounder, and chips and salsa was an amazing starter/side. The south has a combination of pico de gallo and regular salsa. The kids menu is pretty nice too

I’ve been coming here since I was a kid. It’s in a great location. I wasn’t wowed by the food or the wait time (but it’s a popular place so what can you really do about that?) but we had a nice time nonetheless. It was absolutely packed and our server still made time to check up on us often.

Bianca M — Google review

All around a great place to stop in and eat. They have really good selections of seafood steaks salad and soups and so much more. I’ll post a menu below. Beautiful views of the water and inside and outside dining. We had the coastal bacon wrapped shrimp and came with rice and fresh green beans. Also had the fiesta chicken came with potatoes and fresh green beans. Topped with Avocado and pico! Had hush puppies and 1/2lb of peel and eat shrimp and seafood queso was 🔥

We went here after a long day of being tourists. What a great place to hang out and relax! We read some of the reviews about slow service but our experience was exactly the opposite! Eddie was our wait person and he was awesome! Our drinks came to the table fast and our food was right behind it! Great drinks, tasty food, excellent service! No complaints at all!

Michael J — Google review

Very good food in the restaurant and nice bar below. Atmosphere and service are perfect in both sites. You will be able to witness stunning sunsets. We totally recommend visiting this place!

The ladies in the front at the hostess desk were no short of AMAZING! a special thanks to them and the manager, Ellie! We are a family of 6 and reaaallllyyy wanted to sit where there was a spectacular view and they made that happen for us! We sat down at a different table and then asked to move and they allowed it. Thank you!The service was impeccable, the food was delicious the only reason I took a star away is because the 2 drinks I ordered, albeit tasty, were super weak. There was little to no alcohol in it and for $12 a pop, I was disappointed.Other than that, this place is amazing! We ordered the flounder, highly recommended that, the shrimp poor boy, the tuna salad was scrumptious and the kids shrimp plate was a hefty serving. We will be back! Just don’t order the mix drinks unless you like them without alcohol. They are very tasty! We will definitely be back!
