The Grapevine is multi lane freeway and easy to drive. There really aren't any scary curves or steep drop offs that I can recall. Stay in the right lane as much as possible if you start feeling anxious. Your car will not likely overheat, but wouldn't be a bad idea to have Honda check your fluids, tire pressure, etc.

The grapevine is 40 miles so if you're cruising at 60 mph it's 40 minutes.

The California Highway Patrol has shared a map of alternate routes motorists can take in case in the Grapevine is forced to close due to snow. Alternate routes include highways 14, 101 and 126.

And the stretch through the Grapevine is one of the most challenging -- according to the California Highway Patrol's Fort Tejon office. Those officers said more than 100,000 drivers travel the Grapevine daily.

How steep is Tejon Pass? The pass represents the highest point on the highway in the state and is often referred to as the Grapevine. However, the Grapevine more accurately denotes the steep 5 1/2 mile grade section at the northern end of this pass, where the grade is 6% for 5 miles.
